Q&A with Erik Bennerhult
CTO @ Näktergal
What are your plans for the future?
First we take the Nordics. Then we take Berlin. In all seriousness - what is a good system in the Nordics is a great system pretty much everywhere else, and we get a lot of requests from south-east Asia, eastern Europe, China, Brazil... As soon as we are ready, it will be an exciting ride.
Why did you become an entrepreneur?
Banks need more innovation. With legislation from the left and tech-giant competition from the right, it's not a good idea to sit on legacy systems. Banks have *wanted* to change their systems for years. Now they have to.
Aside from achieving commercial success, what do you see as your startup’s mission?
A lending system is pretty much the core vein in society, and with great power comes great responsibility. If we can make it a little bit easier to find fraud, tax evasion or money laundering the world will be a better place.
Describe your perfect day at work.
We are strong believers in continuous improvement - that large changes comes from a large number of small changes. Any day that we improve our system, we are happy. We are happy a lot.
What is your best advice for entrepreneurs who are just starting out?
Talk a lot. To a lot of people. And listen more than you talk.
