Sing Along is a brand new startup in the music industry, with backing from the biggest labels in the world. We are developing a mobile app that allows people to record and broadcast themselves singing to the most popular hits, as well as old classics. By using Sing Along, people can get famous over night, without having to wait in line to appear on TV. The artists that we all love to listen to are also present, and interact with singers.

You will be working closely together with our Tech Lead to improve and scale out our system. This involves a REST API, and an internal web dashboard used for content management. Currently, a lot of effort is going into improving reliability and quality in the system, by building a whole new hosting solution on Google Cloud. It is going well, but there are still a lot of fun projects to do, and we need more people who are eager to create robust systems, and work in a creative environment. This position will require a certain amount of self-starting, since we are a startup.

We: Expect a candidate to know some of the technologies in our stack, but not all of them. Try to hire people with genuine interest in technology, and good taste. Value good code quality, and communication skills. Work with issues and merge requests on GitLab. Do not use Scrum or time estimates. Focus on results, not bureaucracy. Are always helpful and transparent. Are guided by love, not fear.

You: Communicate well in English. For remote work, great communication is extra important! Self-start and seek out solutions. Work on backend and frontend interchangeably. Manage your own time and status. Take responsibility for your results.

Rebuild our internal dashboard with updated frontend libraries.
Store all song and video files in Google Cloud Storage.
Build a new video muxing system with ffmpeg for the user generated videos.

Start using Google Pub/Sub as a long term replacement for Celery+RabbitMQ.
