Internship Description

This role includes the development of designing instructions for Strawbees products ( www.Strawbees.com ) and assisting with the development of educational handouts, instructions of models, and digital media as tools for educators to use in the classroom ( www.Learning.strawbees.com ). 

Skills

Design - You are strong in working with color and developing a visual representation of digital graphics, vectors, illustrations, typography, and more that is engaging to both children and educators. You can create posters, booklets, graphics that can be viewed and scale in mobile, desktop, and tablet technologies.

Education - Have an understanding of how people learn and create, especially in the DIY and the Maker community. You have the critical thinking skills to revise and solve design problems for others to understand the steps to create a project. Able to evaluate of individual classroom modules and courses, as well as instructional programs. 

Photography - Assist with the documentation of project and product photos and edit them to meet high standards for print and web media. 

Video - Assist with the planning of video media. Help create set designs and recording of videos to post online for the website and prepare for social media marketing.

Communication - You can communicate in a variety of different ways, including verbally and visually. You are an interpreter of information to be displayed on print, web, and video media to be published to important distributors and clients with the company. It is important you can clearly share your ideas and thoughts with the team including receiving feedback and providing support. 

Teamwork - You possess the ability to collaborate with others working on parts of a large, ongoing project.  As part of a small team, you will become involved with every stage of a large project.

Requirements

  • Excitement to work for Strawbees and dive into hands-on education! 
  • A portfolio. 
  • Must have or in process of receiving at least a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Learning Design, Children Design, or Visual Communications.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Suite programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Previous experience with Instructional Design and Media. 
  • Able to build 3D sculptures. 
  • Able to work at least 2 days a week. 
  • Must be able to write clearly and fluently in English (UK or US). 

Bonuses 

  • Experience with After Effects and Premiere Pro a plus. 
  • Experience with social media.
  • Mobile and tablet design.
  • Able to write and speak a second language fluently.
  • Ability to work with children.
  • Experience in a school classroom.
  • Workshop development experience.
