Through our app it's possible to find your first job in the neighborhood like babysitting or gardening and begin building your CV. UX Lead at Yepstr

Yepstr is looking for a curious and analytical person who wants to help us push our understanding of our users and their needs, and ensure we prioritize areas in our product that gives the most effect.

At Yepstr you will find the unique combination of joining in a super exciting growth-phase… but still early enough to really make your mark. With your work you’ll make everyday life better for families while at the same time helping young people towards their first jobs.

As our UX Lead you will be on the front line, analyzing input from how our users actually interact with our app, inviting them to user tests and sending out surveys to understand why they get stuck at certain points in the user flow. In a way this is quite similar to what many would call a Product Manager or Product Owner role - but this role is more hands on. As Yepstrs UX Lead you will have ownership for the overall user flow and minimizing friction. We envision you becoming something of a Master of Simplicity - removing things we don't need and really pushing the simple solutions.

As our UX Lead you will work most closely with our Designer, our CTO and our CEO. Since you will become the person with the best overall understanding of our service and how our users use it - you will also be making important decisions regarding prioritization (what should we focus on next). We therefore expect you to continuously engage with our CEO and the CTO so we're all on the same page.

We envision an ideal candidate approaching Yepstr's UX challenge something like this: first taking an outside-in perspective and figuring out what screens in our app are the most used. Aligning people around that we first of all need to focus on these screens. The next step would be to figure out where people drop-off and why. After that we'd envision you to dive in and try to get under the skin of our users (what drives them, why did they come to us, how can we give them a good experience) so that you can summarize your thoughts into:

  1. Which areas we should focus on for future improvements (prioritized list)
  2. Suggestions for how these areas could be improved (user flow diagrams, sketches, mockups)

Although we expect you to be able to work autonomously you will have our, very much, engaged community giving you the opportunity to conduct user tests and interviews with our existing users. Together with our analytical tools (we like Mixpanel and Appsflyer) we will depend on you to stay a few steps ahead of the rest of the team and ensure we channel our efforts towards the most high-impact areas.

We envision you being someone who likes to be in control and excited about being able to really take initiative - whether it be calling together the team for a group discussion or inviting our users over to us for a “fika”. You will be surrounded by a great, ambitious and curious team who loves to listen, discuss ideas and help out in anyway they can. At Yepstr you’ll both give and receive tasks from others. Collaboration is crucial. You’ll share your learnings and victories on team meetings and smaller focus groups. This is a workplace where you have the chance to grow as a team mate and UX Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Overall ownership of user flows, ensuring a frictionless experience
  • High-level prioritization of the areas with the largest opportunity for improvement (for example "customer activation"), liaising with CEO and CTO
  • Holding workshops to capture creative ideas on how to improve these areas
  • Owning our user data - ensuring we store the data we need and present it
  • Evaluating impact of implemented features and experiments and sharing with the team
  • Creating sketches / mockups of possible solutions

We are looking for someone who ...

  • Has previous experience from a UX-related role
  • Has previous mobile app experience
  • Has conducted quantitative (looked at and summarized user data) and qualitative user research (user interviews, A/B testing etc.)
  • Is autonomous and a self-starter. Someone who can create a plan for themselves and hold themselves accountable for execution.
  • Likes being in control and likes engaging with people
  • Shows optimism and spreads energy. Working in a startup is a marathon so it’s important to have fun along the way :)
  • Is fluent in English (Swedish is a plus)
  • Is a team player. We are a small growing company - We take care of each other, listen and help out. To take and give feedback is a natural part of our work.

Big plus if you have any of these...

  • Education within UX or an analytical field (business, engineering or similar)
  • Previous startup experience
  • Previous analyst experience
  • Previous product management / product owner experience (i.e. prioritizing features)
