With the mission to enabling waste free farming, Vultus offers satellite based fertiliser prescriptions. This helps farmers save 40% of fertilizers, leading to an increase profits and reduction of pollution. Currently, we reach out to the equivalent of double Sweden’s growing area. In cooperation with the Saudi Arabian government, we now offer a unique position in a nation wide mapping project.

Team

Our team in Sweden consists of eleven employees from 9 different countries, with about half the team working with software and GIS, half the team working with business and management. The position offered to you is a part of our expansion team in Saudi Arabia. Consisting of five employees, the team comprises of GIS specialists dealing with various tasks such as data analysis, cartography and IT. The team of diverse specialties and backgrounds, fosters a culture of openness and transparency, as well as compassion for all co-workers.

The position and responsibilities

On site cooperating with another team of GIS specialists, the scope of the project at hand is to produce a nation wide mapp analysis through gis-data layers for the Saudi Arabian government. The working period is 9 month and starting September/October of this year. The location of project and your personal stay for the 9 month duration (excluding holidays) is in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Given the size of task and time pressure of its execution, high quality of work and being comfortable with the responsibilities outlined below is of essence.

The GIS/Cartographer position is responsible for the manipulation of digital geographic data in support of spatial database and cartographer production tasks. Responsibilities include editing data in a geographic information systems (GIS) environment in Arcserve, geodatabase and shapefile environments; manipulation and merging of digital files, creation of output files ready for cartographic production, and map layout and design. The position requires collaboration with other team members. Additional skills needed include ability to interpret and follow GIS/cartographic procedures and follow a QA/QC process.

• Cartographic products creation, editing and manipulation
• Implement the cartographic products into the project geospatial database.
• Cartographic manipulation and production.
• Determine map content and layout, as well as production specifications such as scale, size, projection, and colors, and direct production to ensure that specifications are followed.
• Checking and appraising the content and accuracy of the cartographic products.

Minimum experience or background requirements

• Master’s degree in GIS/geomatics or related field 
• 5+ years of experience working with Geographic Information Systems or equivalent work or training experience
• Demonstrated experience with ESRI ArcGIS 10.X product suite including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcServer Spatial Analyst extension, and 3D Analyst
• Working knowledge of digital cartography and geospatial production techniques
• Established experience using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign in producing cartographic products (maps) is strongly desired.
